Sparda Bank

For Sparda Bank Munich, I had the opportunity to serve as DoP and Colorist on a humorous commercial that captures a feeling we all know: the inner doubter. A young couple spots a real estate listing – and before the excitement even takes hold, the big “But” steps in. Embodied by an entire choir, those familiar doubts are brought to life on screen. The message: you don’t have to listen to your But.

One particular challenge was the music, which had to be produced in advance so the actors could perform lip-sync on set. Despite having just one shoot day in Munich and a tight schedule, our small, tight-knit crew managed to pull off multiple versions of the spot. Shooting on the Red V-Raptor with Tribe7 T-Tuned lenses gave the film a distinctive character – perfectly complementing the warm, authentic visual language of the spot.

The location featured a large window front with shifting sunlight throughout the day, requiring constant lighting adjustments. Visually, we started with calm camera work and then deliberately contrasted the appearance of the “But” choir with whip pans – these fast camera movements also served as dynamic transitions between the choir scenes.
